Yesterday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that corporations can spend freely in federal elections.
It's a green light for a new stampede of special interest money in our politics, giving their lobbyists even more power in Washington. Now, every candidate who fights for change could face limitless attacks from corporate special interests like health insurance companies and Wall Street banks.
While the GOP is celebrating a victory for its special interest allies, President Obama is working with leaders in Congress to craft a forceful response that protects the voices of ordinary citizens.
Please add your name right away to help show that the American people support strong, urgent action to prevent a corporate takeover of our democracy.
The Supreme Court decision overturned a 20-year precedent saying that corporations could not pay for campaign ads from their general treasuries. And it struck down a law saying corporations couldn't buy "issue ads" -- which only thinly veil support for or opposition to specific candidates -- in the closing days of campaigns.
The result? Corporations can unleash multi-million-dollar ad barrages against candidates who try to curb special interest power, or devote millions to propping up elected officials who back their schemes.
With no limits on their spending, big oil, Wall Street banks, and health insurance companies will try to drown out the voices of everyday Americans -- and Republicans seem ecstatic.
While opponents of change in Congress are praising this victory for special interests, President Obama has tasked his administration and Congress with identifying a fix to preserve our democracy -- and we need to show that the American people stand with him.

Watch the President's renewed call for clean energy and climate protection
VIDEO: The State of Clean Energy
Dear matuoka,
Last night in his State of the Union address, President Obama reiterated his commitment to passing "a comprehensive energy and climate bill... because the nation that leads the clean energy economy will be the nation that leads the global economy."
With the President's support, we can win the fight for comprehensive legislation in 2010 -- and the first step is making sure that the word gets out about his commitment. That's why we've put together a short video sharing what President Obama said about clean energy and climate in last night's State of the Union.
We're already closer to winning this fight than many thought possible. The vast majority of Americans are on our side. The U.S. House already passed a comprehensive bill last summer. Our movement is strong and growing -- with over 250,000 handwritten letters to the Senate last year, 55,000 posts on the Repower America Wall, and much more.
And as our video shows, we have a President who understands that a clean energy revolution can create millions of American jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and help keep our planet healthy for future generations.
Now it's the Senate's turn. Opposition from the fossil fuel industry is fierce, but we have a campaign plan to win. Together, we can make 2010 the year we begin to Repower America -- and the first step is to help spread the word about Obama's commitment to comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation:
We'll need you with us every step of the way over the coming months. We are so close to making history -- so let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.
Thanks,

Oceans and rivers have a huge power potential, which is still in search of a technology capable of tapping it on a large scale with limited environmental impact.
Fri-El Green Power aims at filling this void. In 2007, together with the Aerospace Engineering Dept. of the Federico II University of Naples, the innovative Sea Power project was launched in order to make this energy potential accessible.

This is my personal favourite orchestral version of this terrific masterpiece. Played by Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Conductor: Robert Stolz (!)
Robert Stolz himself is known as the last composer of the classical viennese aera. He was the one who knew best how a Strauss waltz has to be arranged and how the orchestra has to play it. That's why I adore this recording so much! It's 100% authentic and even the Vienna Philharmonics won't do it better.
I had to shorten the track coz it was longer than 10 minutes. The intro has been removed. But never mind, the zither theme of the intro is played again at the end of the waltz.
